The material's consumption and the supplier's lead time give the safety stock, the reorder point (Min) and the maximum stock (Max) to enter in Odoo's replenishment rule.
The material
The supplier
For an imported material, the lead time runs from the order to the goods entering stock: production at the supplier, sea freight, the port of Dakar, customs clearance and the truck.
Odoo orders as soon as the forecast stock falls below this level.
Max-max method: safety stock = maximum consumption × longest lead time − average consumption × average lead time. Simple and prudent.
What the calculation does.
2.6 t × 60 d − 2 t × 45 d = 66 t: the worst case, minus the average case.
2 t × 45 d + 66 t = 156 t: the Min of the Odoo rule.
156 t + 100 t ordered at once = 256 t: the Max.
66 + 50 = 116 t on average, i.e. 59 million francs at 510,000 F a tonne.
